Paperless Tax Delivery with SafeSend
At Hawkins Ash CPAs, we use SafeSend to make receiving and signing your tax documents simple, secure, and paperless. Whether you’re new to SafeSend or just need a refresher, this page will guide you through how it works and answer common questions.
What is SafeSend?
SafeSend is a secure online system we use to deliver:
- Tax returns (with electronic signature)
- Engagement letters (with electronic signature)
- Fillable tax organizers (with space to add notes and ask questions)
It’s all online—no printing, mailing, or scanning.
Who Can Use It?
SafeSend supports:
- Business returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065)
- Individual returns (1040)
- Trust returns (1041)
- Nonprofit returns (990)
Individuals can also receive their organizer electronically.
How It Works
- Watch for an email from noreply@safesendreturns.com when your documents are ready.
Tip: Add this address to your contacts so it doesn’t land in spam. - Click the secure link in the email and request your one-time access code (sent to the same email).
- Enter the code and follow the on-screen prompts to review your documents.
- Sign electronically where required. If you file jointly, you’ll be able to send the signature request to your spouse.
- Download or share your documents securely with trusted third parties, like your banker or attorney.
That’s it—all you need is a valid email address.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Is SafeSend secure?
Yes. SafeSend uses encryption and a one-time access code to protect your information.
Do I need special software or an account?
No. SafeSend works directly in your web browser—nothing to install.
What if I don’t want paperless delivery?
By default, we use SafeSend for secure delivery. However, if you’d prefer a paper copy, let your Hawkins Ash team know.
Can I share documents with others?
Yes. SafeSend allows you to securely forward documents to trusted third parties, such as your banker, attorney, or financial advisor.
I requested an access code but it never arrived/doesn’t work. What should I do?
- Access codes can take up to 15 minutes to arrive. Please request the code only once; additional requests will make earlier codes invalid.
- If noreply@safesendreturns.com isn’t whitelisted, the code email may be in Junk/Spam—check there.
- If you requested the code by text message and didn’t receive it, please call your local Hawkins Ash office to confirm your mobile number and request a new notification.
I didn’t receive the email regarding my return – is it ready?
Our turnaround time is generally 2–3 weeks, assuming no additional information is needed.
- If noreply@safesendreturns.com is not in your email contacts, contact your local Hawkins Ash office to confirm the status of your return and your email address.
- If you did whitelist the address and still haven’t received a notification, your return is most likely still in process. Contact your local office to confirm.
Can I make a payment through SafeSend?
SafeSend provides payment instructions, but it does not process payments. You have two options:
- Download your payment voucher(s), write a check, and mail it in.
- Follow the IRS or state payment website links provided in SafeSend to pay online.
Note: SafeSend cannot make payments on your behalf. Any references to payments are for your convenience and record-keeping only.
I was notified that our return was sent, but I file jointly as the spouse and haven’t received an email. Why not?
Returns are typically sent to the taxpayer (the first person listed on the return) first, unless Hawkins Ash is instructed otherwise.
- The taxpayer must sign before the return is routed to the spouse for signature.
- Check the taxpayer’s email address or call your local Hawkins Ash office to confirm delivery.
