Winona, Minn. – Hawkins Ash CPAs has a new Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the firm’s Winona, MN, office. Associate Hunter Drake recently achieved his CPA designation from the Minnesota State Board of Accountancy. To qualify, he had to pass a rigorous, four-part written exam, have 150 credit hours of higher education, and demonstrate at least a year of experience in public or private accounting.
Hunter joined Hawkins Ash CPAs in May 2019, after completing two internships with Hawkins Ash during the previous two tax seasons.
“I cannot express my gratitude for all of the support and words of encouragement I have received from my colleagues. Working in an environment where others know how difficult it can be to work full-time and study, provides some assurance that the daunting task is possible,” said Drake.
“The challenges within the public accounting industry remind me to reflect back on all of the work I have completed and know that I can be proud of my career.”
In his current role with the firm, Hunter focuses on corporate, partnership and high net-worth individual tax returns, as well as performing employee benefit plan audits.
In addition to becoming a CPA, Hunter has earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, both from Winona State University.
He also is a member of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants.
