Joseph Haas, CPA, has been named Partner at Hawkins Ash CPAs and will continue to provide expert audit services to government entities including municipalities, school districts, and housing authorities. In addition to Partner, Joe is the Firm’s Director of Accounting and Auditing and plays a key role in the continued development and integrity of the Firm’s audit practice.
Joe Haas started his career at one of the nation’s largest CPA firms and in 2008 transitioned his state and local government audit experience to Hawkins Ash CPAs. Now, as a Partner, he oversees audit services provided to government entities including municipalities, school districts, and housing authorities.
Joe is a problem solver who enjoys working with clients of all sizes and guiding them through their audits. “We’re a valued resource to our clients throughout the year. They routinely call with questions and, in many cases, we are the first people they call in almost any situation where they don’t immediately have the answer,” he remarked.
As the Firm’s Director of Audit and Accounting, he leads the Hawkins Ash CPAs team that is responsible for evaluating and implementing all new professional and accounting standards as well as new audit technology. For more effective and efficient audit services, Joe is focused on enhancing internal training and implementing AI and automated technologies. Joe researches new, complex accounting standards and breaks down the implications into understandable and actionable best practices for staff who implement the standards for clients. Internal staff depend on Joe to provide answers to audit questions they encounter in the field.
Joe is a graduate of UW-La Crosse and life-long resident of the Coulee Region. In the community, he is the Past President of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Museum of La Crosse. Joe is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and
Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
